| Between 30 million and 40 million Americans are either hungry or at risk of going hungry. And 20 percent of the food produced in this country never reaches a consumer's table. At the Community Foodbank of New Jersey, a member of the America's Second Harvest food bank network, we try to use one problem to alleviate the other. There's plenty of food out there that is still good to eat but doesn't meet manufacturer or supermarket appearance standards. When that happens, the distributors of New Jersey call us, and we get that food to the charities that feed the needy.
